The Zut Alors ain’t got nothing on Chicago Cops!

Hello one and all, it’s been a while but i’m back to blow the earwax from your ears and open your mind to new music. So if you haven’t bid that earwax goodbye the last 8 times since i started this blog, then I think it’s time you do so today.

Alrighty so this next band, I found out about through another music scout band(surprise surprise-6 degrees of separation much?). That band would be, The Armed Forces(www.thepeopleschurchofthearmedforces.com) which is quite ironic since one of the members of this band is also a member of the Armed Forces.

With that said, if you’ve read the Armed Forces feature then you can pretty much guess where this next band hails from. Yes, surprise surprise, it’s Nashville, Tennessee and the band is The Zut Alors (http://www.facebook.com/theZutAlors) —you can tell the times they are a changing, i didnt link the myspace right away, which they do have, btw.

Anyway, yes, The Zut Alors and The Armed Forces are 1 quarter the same band, hahaha. Both equally quarky as evidence by their Facebook posts.

So I first found out about The Zut Alors when they hopped in that Kitten loving church van with the rest of the Armed Forces to come on over to the windy city for two days of rock, one of the days was that rooftop party that got shut down by the Chicago cops at only 9pm…but that didn’t stop the Zut Alors from playing an acoustic set after the cops left the area…haha SUCK IT POPO!

Their music is a mix of indie, techno, psycadellic rock. It’s the type of music I can EASILY hear on the soundtrack to Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist(the producers kinda missed the boat, on getting the zut’s) and the more that I think about it, I could see the Twilight author, directors and fanatics alike spinning some of these tracks too! One band that comes to mind when jamming some Zut is Muse, which I guess is why a possible Twilight soundtrack comes to mind…Supermissive Black Hole anyone? Oh wouldn’t a rousing game of Vampire baseball be grand right about now?!?!

The Zut Alors music is mellowish at times but never ceases to give some badass beats that make you want to crank up the bass on your stereo and have a indie dance party. I can also see their music being played at a nightclub, cause it’s definitely got the potential to make sweaty drunk people rub up against each other in a overly small nightclub dance floor!

Currently, you can go download their latest album FOR FREE, HOT FUCKING DAMN, on their website. In the digital age of music, with music industries totally buttfucking the music lover with overpriced, less then great albums from overplayed bands like All Time Low, I think the best marketers are bands now a days. And the whole free songs deal is great to reel in new fans and keep them or loose them without tying them down to the table right away.

My take on bands now, if you can, give away some songs for free, make a note of what people think of the songs, take the criticism and if you have enough good criticism then you can go sell your next batch of songs for 5 or 10 bucks!
