Hey Music World,
It’s that time again for me to tell you about another awesome band that deserves your eyes and ears! I recently decided that with every band I feature, I will try to follow up on that band with another that is in someway linked to the previous band. I started with The Pink Spiders and followed up with The Armed Forces because they are from the same town, and members of both bands are friends with one another(and has recently been announced that Matt Friction and Nathan Hansen of TPS now, MF and the Cheap Shots started another band, Dozen Dimes, with The Armed Forces frontman, Brandon Jazz, do not know if this is yet another reincarnation off The Pink Spiders or if the Dozen Dimes will be a full time band for the trio). Last week I introduced you to The Crash Moderns and this week I will follow up with a band that was brought together thanks, in part, by The Crash Moderns.
This Hollywood Heart (http://www.myspace.com/thishollywoodheart) hails from New York City and good friends with The Crash Moderns. Such good friends, in fact, keyboardist Tommy Eichmann sought out her musical talent and helped her jump start her career as the next Alexz Johnson (aka Jude Star on the-N drama, Instant Star). Tommy took This Hollywood Heart, or Lisa Sansouci under his wing and put his budding producing career (honestly, he’s not just a pretty face and keyboardist for a NYC rock band!) into full swing. “Sugar Sugar” and “Don’t Hang Up” are two early This Hollywood Heart tracks that Tommy produced, Lisa sang.
This is the point where I do some shameless promotion for Tommy’s producer/songwriter page: http://www.myspace.com/tommyeichmann fyi: he is currently looking for new bands to produce, get at him all you budding rockstars, you!
This Hollywood Heart’s music is described as pop/rock. The upbeat songs make you want to nod your head to the beat, definitely songs that can be spinning in a hot dance club…or at least at Angels and Kings, which Lisa and her band can easily be sponsoring by all the appearances she has made at the NYC location of the rock&roll bar with her friends and band mates.
A few favorites of mine would be the Paramore-esk song, “Shut Up” as well as the catchy “He Said She Said” that shows evidence of a Crash Modern member. And of course, “Sugar Sugar” is a fun song that would help serve as the soundtrack to a lovestruck teenager dancing around her room singing into her hairbrush….oh wait, i think that was Taylor Swift, damn. Well, I could see Taylor Swift dancing around to this song in enjoyment!
But Seriously, words can only do so much for you so I urge you to go to www.myspace.com/thishollywoodheart and listen for yourself.
This Hollywood Heart is not like every other pop rock band out there, for one, the songs are fresh and different apart from the cookie cutter pop rock/pop punk bands that litter recent issues of Alternative Press. Not to mention, one of a select few of bands out there where only the main vocalist is widely represented in photos, i.e. The Rocket Summer, Never Shout Never.
I’m sure that fans of Paramore would totally dig this band! Hey Hayley, need a band to open up for you sometime?
Currently you can purchase music from This Hollywood Heart by going to their MySpace page(posted above) and checking out the box posted above the top friends list in the About Me section. There are currently 10 songs to choose from all for 99 cents each or $7.99 for all the tracks.
